Looking for an Otta alternative? Start by knowing where Otta went

otta.com no longer serves a site of its own. It returns a permanent redirect to uk.welcometothejungle.com, which introduces itself as “Welcome To The Jungle UK (formerly Otta)” and is operated by Otta Technology Ltd. The product did not disappear; it was renamed. If a thread from last year told you to use Otta, this is where you land.

What it is now

Welcome to the Jungle UK is a curated, preference-driven tech job site: “Only relevant roles. Choose the right job, at the right company for you.” You tell it what you like, and “your recommendations get smarter the more you interact.” It claims “over 3,500 top companies and 70,000+ live jobs”, promises “no outdated jobs, duplicates, or black boxes of forgotten CVs”, and adds company-level context: “Diversity. Salary. Unbiased reviews. And our honest take on every company.”

It is also, unlike most of the boards an engineer in Europe gets pointed at, genuinely European. Its own line is “find roles in the most exciting cities for tech jobs, plus thousands of remote and flexible opportunities”, and the cities it names are London, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Dublin and Paris. This is the closest thing to a European answer already sitting on the shelf, and we would rather say that than pretend otherwise.

Side by side

Every claim in the Welcome to the Jungle (Otta) column was read from https://uk.welcometothejungle.com/ on 2026-08-06, except where a row names its own source. Nothing here comes from a review site or a directory.

What is the organising idea?“Only relevant roles.” You state your preferences and the recommendations sharpen as you skip, save and apply. One filter first — can you legally hold this job from where you live — then a score on what is left.
How do you narrow by place?By city, plus a Remote bucket: London, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Dublin, Paris, Remote, and more.By the eligibility the posting states — the countries and work-authorisation requirements written in the job text.
How large is it?“Over 3,500 top companies and 70,000+ live jobs.”A few hundred companies, engineering only. Much smaller, and narrower on purpose — we are not trying to win on breadth.
Where do listings come from?Company profiles on the platform, curated rather than aggregated — “no outdated jobs, duplicates, or black boxes of forgotten CVs.”Sourced direct from the career pages of the companies we track, including roles never posted to a board.
What does it tell you about a specific role?Company context — diversity, salary, reviews, and their own take on the employer.Scores how likely you are to get an interview there, from your profile and the posting.
What does it cost you?No candidate price is stated on the site, so we are not going to guess one.Free to browse and to use every tool. €69 for 90 days unlocks the full product.

The distinction that matters

A city and an eligibility are different facts, and this is where a European board can still leave you stuck. “Berlin” tells you where the company sits. It does not tell you whether a Berlin company will hire someone living in Portugal, and it does not tell you whether the Remote role next to it is remote-within-Germany, remote-within- EMEA, or remote-if-you-hold-a-US-work-permit. All three get filed under the same word.

If you are looking for a job in the city you live in, that distinction costs you nothing and a city filter is the right tool. If you are looking for a role you can hold from where you already are, it is the whole question — and it is the one we built around. We read the eligibility out of the posting on the company's own careers page rather than inferring it from an office location.

When to use theirs instead

If you are in or willing to move to one of their cities, use Welcome to the Jungle. The curation is real, the company write-ups are better than ours, and 70,000+ live jobs is a number we are not going to approach. It is also the better tool for browsing when you are not sure what you want yet — its whole design is about narrowing down from preferences, and ours assumes you already know you want a remote role you are eligible for.

Running both is reasonable. They are answering different questions.

Try it without an account

  • Remote reality check

Is this company actually remote, or remote in name only? Shows its evidence.

  • Remote jobs that aren't US-only

Roles whose stated eligibility actually includes Europe.

  • Every board we would send you to

The honest list, including the free ones we do not own.

This tool is free and always will be. The full product scores every EU-remote role against your profile and tells you where you actually stand — €69 for 90 days, one payment, no subscription.
