Where to actually look for remote jobs that hire from Europe

If you live in Europe and you have spent a month applying to “remote” roles that turned out to want US work authorisation, you have probably worked out that the problem is not your CV. It is that one word is doing the work of about six different ones, and no filter on any major board reads far enough into the posting to tell them apart.

This page is the honest version of the list. We build one of the things on it, and we will say so — but the free ones are here because they are genuinely worth your time, not as a warm-up act.

The boards worth knowing, and what each is for

  • RemoteOK

The largest general remote board. Free to browse, every job function, and it does have a Europe region filter.

  • Wellfound

Startup roles with direct lines to founders. Free for candidates, and its published location pages are eight US cities.

  • Welcome to the Jungle (formerly Otta)

Curated European tech roles with matching. The closest thing to a European answer already on the shelf.

Each of those links goes to a side-by-side comparison with this product, with every claim about the other company read off their own site and dated. If one of them has gone stale, the date on the page will show it.

The question none of them answers

Every board above sorts jobs by something a person selected from a menu — a region tag, a city, a Remote checkbox. Meanwhile the actual restriction is a sentence in the body of the posting: must be authorised to work in the US, must overlap with Pacific hours, must reside in one of these seven countries. The menu and the sentence were written by different people, and only the sentence is binding.

That is the gap we work in. Listings are sourced direct from company career pages, the stated eligibility is parsed out of the posting text rather than taken from a tag, and roles restricted to the US are excluded. Then, if you have a profile, each remaining role gets a score for how likely you are to get an interview there — a way to rank your own shortlist, not a prediction about whether you will be hired.

The honest trade is size. Our corpus is a fraction of what any board on this page carries. Narrower, and deliberately so.
